Procedures and Requirements
Mature Christians who have graduated from high school or hold a G.E.D. may elect to complete the requirements for a license and qualify for a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Counseling. A Life Experience Portfolio will be used for the Bachelor's degree credit requirements if the student has not completed 2 years of college or an AA degree before entering this program.
Complete Phase I
Courses
Each candidate must complete the following 5 courses:
- Creation Therapy
- Basic Christian Counseling
- Christian Counseling: Integrating Temperament and Psychology
- Counseling With Truth: Finding Victory in the Christian Walk
- Quality, Ethics, and Legal Issues in Christian Counseling
Additional Requirements
Each candidate must:
- Complete practicum, administering the APS to 10 individuals, with 3 hrs. clinical supervision.
- Upon completion of the required courses, submit the following:
- Answers to 50 ethical questions posed by N.C.C.A.'s National Licensing Board of Examiners
- Application for Membership and signed N.C.C.A. Code of Ethical Standards.
- $50 for first year's annual dues.
After completing all of the requirements for Phase I, the candidate will (assuming everything is in order) receive:
- Certified Temperament Counselor certificate
- Clinical Member (non-clergy) or Professional Clinical member (clergy)
Complete Phase II
Courses
Each candidate must complete the following 3 courses:
Additional Requirements
Each candidate must:
- Complete a practicum. This consists of administering the A.P.S. to 15 additional individuals under the direction of an assigned and approved clinical supervisor. 3 hours of supervision are required.
- Upon completion of the required courses and supervision, submit the following:
- A signed application for N.C.C.A. Certificate/license.
- The Notification and Release for Personal National Screening.
- Background check and Licensing fee of $100.
- Ministerial Credentials, send a copy of your credentials.
***All Candidates must have current ministerial credentials to be credentialed as a pastoral counselor by the N.C.C.A... if you do not already have valid ministerial credentials, we recommend that you speak with your local pastor or church leadership about attaining these credentials. If through your local church or denomination. If that is not possible, we have 4 organizations that we refer our students to, in order to attain those ministerial credentials.
After successfully completing all of the requirements for Phase II, the candidate will (assuming everything is in order) receive:
- Certified Pastoral Counselor
- Certified Temperament Pastoral Counselor (Optional)(additional $39 fee applies)
Annual membership and certification/license renewal are required. Membership is $50 per year, and certification/ license renewal is $20 per year (total $70). A signed affidavit verifying continuing education must be submitted annually.
The tuition for each Phase I and Phase II course is $250. this includes shipping, and handling and all course supplies/materials. Candidates are expected to pay for each course when it is shipped.
Clinical supervision will include practicing the use of the APS, new counseling skills, and exploring your vision and goal for a Christian Counseling ministry/business. We will discuss concepts of a home office, church office, personal office space, and ways to begin advertising and reaching your community.
Complete Phase III
Courses
Each candidate must select and complete four (4) advanced courses.

Additional Requirements
Each candidate must:
- Upon completion of the required courses, submit the following:
- Written responses to a 500 Question Open Book Equivalency Exam on the Bible (Old and New Testament)
- Degree matriculation fees of $1500 (A surcharge for payment by credit card will apply)

The tuition for each Phase 3 advanced course is $200. This includes shipping and handling and all course supplies/materials. Candidates are expected to pay for each course when it is shipped.
After successfully completing all of the requirements for Phase III, the candidate will (assuming everything is in order) receive:
- Licensed Pastoral Counselor
- Appropriate Board Certification counseling certificates for selected specialty areas
- Bachelor's degree in Christian Counseling
In order to obtain a Master's Degree, you will be required to complete an additional 12 advanced courses and submit a Thesis consisting of 25 case studies, using the APS with counseling clients. The matriculation and transfer fees for a Master's degree are $1500, and $50 for upgrading your license to the M.A. level.
