Dr. Lisa Winchell has her Master of Arts in Clinical Christian Counseling and Doctorate in Ministry.  She is an N.C.C.A. Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor, Certified Temperament Therapist, and Ordained Minister of Counseling having 15+ years of experience with individuals, couples, and youth. Christian Counseling is provided, with a whole-person approach. We first use the Word of God as the basis for the transformation of soul and spirit. Second, we utilize the most in-depth and accurate temperament analysis available, to identify each client's unique temperament needs, strengths and weaknesses. Thirdly, together with the client, we identify and bring healing to heart issues from old hurts, unforgiveness, shame, fears and traumas, and personal sin.  Fourthly, we educate the client on the amazing way God created our bodies and brains to work together, for mental health, when we take care of our bodies as they are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  When needed we can refer to alternative licensed psychiatrists for tests and supplements that will bring balance to the body, mind, and emotions.

Effective Christian Counseling is a therapeutic relationship between counselor and client, with the purpose of leading the client closer to God's best for their lives. The counselor is a vessel of God's grace and love and equipped to help the client learn successful ways to overcome their present situation and past hurts. The client is willing and committed to participating in the process. In this setting, our Christ-Centered Temperament model has proven to be 96% successful.

Christian Counseling is available for:

Our Biblically-Based Approach to Counseling

The Arno Profile System is used to identify the individual temperament traits of each person. This immediately provides a comprehensive portrait of the client’s strengths, weaknesses, and needs. The weaknesses are a result of unmet needs, or needs met in ungodly or unproductive ways, When the needs are met in ungodly, and unproductive ways the individual experiences great interpersonal stress, and lacking intimacy with others and God. This is known as living out of the sin nature rather than the new nature given to them in Christ.

Our goal is to teach the client how to live in God's best for their life, and relationships. We first accomplish this by exploring new, productive ways in which the client can get their needs met. Secondly, we help the client uncover false beliefs they may have about themselves. We see in the Word of God, that "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he". Therefore, we must uncover false beliefs about God and ourselves, and replace them with truth. When we have false beliefs about God, and about ourselves, we make bad choices. When we choose by faith to believe what God's Word says about Him and about who we are in Him, we begin to make better choices with better results. As the client begins to understand these scriptural truths they find themselves in God's will, walking by faith, and experiencing life to the fullest. Thirdly, we give the client further insight into the differences in each individuals temperament, giving them an appreciation for their own and other's differences, as well as a greater ability to forgive and let go. Now all the scriptures that call us to love, be kind, patient, and believe the best of others, become real and reachable goals. Not only does their life become more fulfilled, but the lives of family members, church members, and those around them are touched by the new found joy in their life.

Appointment Information

Christian Counseling appointments are in the North Port, Venice, Sarasota, Englewood, Naples, Brandon and Tampa Florida area. We also provide Skype counseling, FaceTime and telephone counseling, for those out of the area.

Skype, Facetime and Telephone Counseling have shown to be a very productive means of counseling for those who do not have the extra time for commuting to a counselors office, or who may just be more comfortable not walking into an office where others may know them. The latter is particularly true for some leaders in the church. They want to work through their problems, so they can continue to lead and guide God's people, by being an example of living in His victory. But, they hesitate to seek help in tough times, because confidentiality may be compromised by walking into a local office in town. We are here for you, whatever situation you may be in now. We all need help sometimes. The good thing is that God loves you, and will meet you right where you are. Call now if you need us.

Appointments available daytime, evening, and Saturdays.

Initial assessment $60. Counseling fees are on a sliding scale, based on weekly income. Telephone counseling clients will make their payment right before each session.
